What's on

GCCSA plan and run a variety of campaigns, events and engagement opportunities for all students each year. As a student of Glasgow Clyde College, you can check out our area on Canvas to stay up to date however here you will find an overview of some of the key annual activity that takes place.

Freshers'

At the start of every academic year GCCSA arrange Freshers' Fayres across all three campuses for students to enjoy. This year things will have to be a little different but we are still going to be bringing you a Virtual Freshers' 2020, so click on the link to find out more!

Class Representative (class rep) Meetings

Class Rep meetings will take place every second month throughout the academic year, we encourage class reps to make an effort to attend all of these where possible as it is a great opportunity to pass on your feedback and hear updates from GCCSA, as well as having the chance to speak to various staff from around the college.

Once you have been chosen by your class as a rep your lecturer should inform GCCSA and then you will receive regular contact via your email about meeting dates. If you are not receiving this let us know at: GCCSA@glasgowclyde.ac.uk

Class reps will have the opportunity to take part in sparqs training and will have a chance to join the Student Voice Forum where GCCSA will provide a direct link for discussion about key college topics.

Class Rep activity will still go ahead at the start of the 2020 academic year however some of this activity may be moved online to accommodate the current circumstances. We will aim to get back to running face-to-face meetings as soon as it is safe to do so on campus.

Christmas Fayre

GCCSA plan a Christmas Fayre cross-campus each year. This provides students and staff with an opportunity to have some fun and possibly pick up a few gifts as well. Stalls will be made up from a variety of internal and external stallholders offering gifts for sale, fundraising and in addition some activities. We hope to be able to revisit this in December 2020 or to come up with new ideas for you.

Campaigns

GCCSA get involved in a number of key campaigns each year and we are always looking for new opportunities and ideas from students, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you think there is something that we should support or you would like to lead on E: GCCSA@glasgowclyde.ac.uk.

Some of the key campaigns that we have been involved in before are; Hate Crime Awareness Week, Pride Month, Rainbow Laces, Reduce, Reuse Recycle, Pass it on Week, Mental Health Awareness Week, White Ribbon, Campus Clean Up’s, Fairtrade and many more.

GCCSA also take part in the Healthy Body Healthy Mind Award each year alongside Scottish Student Sport and Ash Scotland. Clyde students can see more details about this on our area within Canvas.

Student Elections

GCCSA is run by students, for students, and all students are automatically members of GCCSA. We are determined to represent students’ interests here at Glasgow Clyde College.

Every spring, we elect a new full time president and three part-time vice presidents to represent the student body at Glasgow Clyde College. We not only seek to represent students, we also wish to forge strong links with external organisations and partners, to ensure GCCSA can continue to help to improve the overall learning experience.

Being a part of the action could be a great benefit not only to you and your future, but could also make a real difference to the learning and development of your peers, and to improving Glasgow Clyde College.

Nominations and the election for the 2021/221 session open on 1 March 2021. Check out our Student Election page for more information.
