GCC named Further Educational Institution of the Year
We’re thrilled to have won three categories and to be named 'Further Educational Institution of the Year' at The Herald Education Awards. Huge congratulations to all staff across the college who have contributed to this success.
Enhancing Student Learning Award
Awarded for the work of our Fashion and Textiles department for the ‘Harris Tweed Reimagined Fashion Project’.
The judges were impressed with this multi-disciplinary, sustainability-focused project that turned archive garments into a contemporary learning brief. It was an agile and unique full-circle project evidencing strong engagement and impact.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award
Awarded for our ESOL department's 16+ ESOL Programme.
The judges noted the expanding provision of this project into communities with demonstrable need, recognising their partnership with the Scottish Refugee Council, to give learners language, confidence and progression routes whilst directly addressing local integration and participation gaps.
Partnership Award
Awarded for the long-standing partnership between our Sports department and Celtic FC’s Soccer Academy.
The judges recognised this long-term, genuinely two-way partnership offering courses in game analysis and coaching, with more than 30 graduates progressing into senior club employment and strong grassroots links, evidencing sustained progression and impact.
Further Educational Institution of the Year
Rather than isolated successes, the judges saw a pattern of sustained excellence, demonstrating that this is a college making a difference not just in one area, but right across its learning community.
