Funding for Training

There are three significant new funding opportunities coming to Scotland’s colleges - and they could make a real difference to parents, carers, employees and employers across Glasgow.

Together, RISE, the Training Access Fund and the new Flexible Workforce Development Fund will provide free training and practical support to help people gain skills, progress at work and increase their earning potential.

So, what are the three funds?

• RISE will support parents and carers earning less than £33,000 a year to gain the skills and qualifications they need to enter employment, return to work or progress further. It can also help overcome barriers such as childcare and travel costs. Click here to find out more about eligibility
• The Training Access Fund will help parents and carers who are already in low-paid work access training that could lead to progression, better-paid opportunities or a more secure career. Click here to find out more about eligibility
• The new Flexible Workforce Development Fund will help employers provide training for eligible employees earning less than £33,000 a year. This includes parents and carers, employees under 24, and some care-experienced or disabled employees under 30. Individual employees may also be able to approach the college directly. This is not a return of the previous FWDF. The new fund has a much sharper focus on helping people increase their earnings, supporting Fair Work and contributing to Scotland’s wider ambition to tackle child poverty.
