The Glasgow Clyde Project

The Glasgow Clyde Project offers empowering support services and inspiring pathways into education for individuals who has faced challenging life experiences and are ready to embrace new learning opportunities.

At the Glasgow Clyde Project Hub students can participate in 1:1 support sessions and small group work to:

  • Create a daily routine
  • Start improving health, wellbeing and regulate emotions
  • Explore college life and start personalised timetables
  • Develop career aspirations and study skills to become a successful student
  • Discover opportunities across Glasgow that best fit individual goals
  • Progress into study, employment or training

Students attending the Glasgow Clyde Project will regularly reflect and evaluate their timetable, be supported to attend college and work with external partners. There is also access to mentoring.

There is no age limit or timescale allocated to attending The Glasgow Clyde Project. The sole aim of the project is to support students to develop skills, achieve qualifications and cultivate resiliency to enhance life opportunities.

Rowan's Story

"My name is Rowan Green and I'm 16. I have been coming along to the college to meet with the Glasgow Clyde Project every Tuesday since January. Prior to this, I had not attended school for well over a year. I had moved back to Glasgow with my family and was feeling very isolated. Mainstream school was definitely not an option for me, so I thought college might be a better fit.

The college was very welcoming and helpful when my mum enquired about the course. Coming in for one hour a week seemed manageable for me, although scary at first. The staff on the projects input, and positive, encouraging influence has been fantastic for me and has enabled me to finally see a future for myself. My confidence and self-esteem have definitely improved. I am now looking forward to studying at the college - starting in August."

Rowan completed the King’s Trust Team Programme in April at Langside Campus and is now studying on the National 4 programme at Glasgow Clyde College.

Ellie's Story

"I had a place on the King’s Trust Team last year, but at the time I just wasn’t ready. I was feeling anxious all the time. I started working with staff on the Glasgow Clyde Project because I wanted to build my confidence and prepare myself to return and complete the Team programme. I really wanted the chance to meet new people and try things I’d never done before.

My favourite part has been meeting new people, getting to know others I hadn’t met before, and stepping out of my comfort zone through different activities.

I’ve now secured a place on the First Steps to Care course at Anniesland Campus starting in January 2025. My goal is to work towards becoming a children’s nurse so I can support and help others."

Ellie completed the King’s Trust Team Programme at Anniesland Campus then successfully progressed onto First Steps to Care and is now studying on NQ Access to Healthcare Level 5 at Galsgow Clyde College.
