The National Progression Award (NPA) in Sport Coaching Through Play will develop your knowledge and skills of the coaching process - planning, delivering and evaluating.

The course takes a practical approach, giving you the opportunity to take part in all aspects of coaching and playing a range of sports, both indoors and outdoors.  You will also participate in sports such as badminton, basketball, volleyball, and football, as well as fitness activities including circuits, indoor cycling, group exercise, and exercise to music.

Qualification Breakdown

National Progression Award (NPA) in Sport Coaching Through Play SCQF Level 6.

• Provide play sessions in a sport environment
• Health, safety and well-being of children and young people in a sport environment
• Working with children and young people to provide play in a sport environment.

Entry requirements

You must have a keen interest in playing sport, coaching sport and/ or personal fitness or fitness instructing along with:

• 3 passes at National 5.

Target Year Group S5 and S6.

Attendance Pattern

You will attend college on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 13:30 - 16:00.

Progression Pathways

On successful completion of the course along with good attendance and commitment, you will be given the opportunity of internal progression on to one of the following courses:

• NQ Sports Coaching SCQF Level 6
• NQ Celtic Football Coaching Pathway SCQF Level 6
• NQ Physical Activity and Health SCQF Level 6
• HNC / HND Coaching and Developing Sport
• HNC / HND NextGen Physical Activity and Health.

The level you might enter would depend on the level and relevance of your other qualifications.
