This exciting, practical course will allow you to create a podcast, produce a short film, learn more about the advertising and marketing industry and allow you to create your own advert using Photoshop. You will also learn about the introductions of animation, creating your own piece of animation in the process. Through the completion of practical projects, you’ll learn how to use Adobe video and image editing software as well as audio editing software.

You will be prepared for the world of work and then embark on a personalised work placement which will take place for a block of 3 weeks in June with a company in the creative industries.  You may have to complete additional days within your work placement.  If required, this will be discussed with your school directly to ensure that any additional time fits with your school timetable.

On completion of this one-year course, you will have achieved a foundation apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media.

  • Use Digital and Social Media in Marketing Campaigns (H6PH 04)
  • Media Project (F57P 12)

Entry requirements

You must:

  • Have achieved 4 National 5s (grade A-C) one of which must be English.
  • Be capable of working at SCQF Level 6 (Higher) English

Having previous experience of subjects related to creative industries e.g. art and design or media would be advantageous but not necessary.

Attendance Pattern

This Foundation Apprenticeship will be for one academic year.

You will attend college on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 13:30 – 16:00.

During this course, you will be required to do a 3-week block placement in June and potentially commit to additional work placement time as required (this will be discussed with your school to best fit with your timetable and current studies).

Progression Pathways

Successful completion of this course will lead to an unconditional place on the HND Media and Communication, HND Digital Film and Television or HND Practical Journalism course.

The first level jobs across Scotland’s Creative Industries that you can work toward include Production Assistant, Content Assistant, Junior Creative Assistant, Junior Copywriter, Research Assistant, Camera Assistant, Creative Tech Assistant, Marketing Assistant, Digital Design Assistant, Graphic Design Assistant, Assistant UX Developer and others.
