Caitlin Connolly
HND Media and CommunicationsCaitlin began her academic journey at Glasgow Clyde College, where she pursued an NQ in Media and Journalism. She then advanced to the HND Media and Communications before progressing to the University of Stirling, where she earned a BA in Film, Media, and Journalism.
Her professional career started as a Marketing Executive at creative agency GRM, followed by a role as a Senior Account Executive at advertising agency Frame. Today, she is passionate about her role as an Assistant Publicity Manager at ITV, working on the iconic tv programme, Coronation Street.
Richard Rankin
HND Acting and PerformanceAlumni Richard Rankin studied Acting and Performance with us at our Langside Campus. It wasn’t long after his graduation that Richard started to attract attention in the performing world. Firstly, in the Scottish comedy series Burnistoun, followed by the Olivier Award-winning play ‘Black Watch’ with the National Theatre of Scotland. Since his early acting days Richard’s acting career has gone from strength to strength with performances in The Crimson Field, Silent Witness, From Darkness and Thirteen for the BBC. In 2016, Richard made his debut as the pivotal character of Roger Wakefield in the epic STARZ/Sony production Outlander, a role that has made Richard an international star.
Kara Conway
NCTJ Diploma in JournalismAfter completing her English Literature degree at the University of Glasgow, Kara developed her skills at Glasgow Clyde College, earning her NCTJ Diploma in Journalism at our Cardonald campus. That solid grounding launched her career as a Reporter with Newsquest, where she covered local stories for the Ayrshire Advertiser and the Clydebank Post.
From there, Kara moved into broadcast journalism as a Bulletin Editor and Newsreader for Radio Tay and Greatest Hits Radio Tayside and Fife. Today, she’s thriving as a Senior Journalist at BBC Radio Scotland.
Paul Black
HND Digital Film and TelevisionPaul Black started out studying HND Digital Film and Television at Glasgow Clyde College before building a huge online following with his comedy sketches. His success led to BBC Scotland commissioning his sketch-show pilot Pity Party and later the Hogmanay special First Footing. On stage, he’s sold out multiple Edinburgh Fringe runs with Worst Case Scenario, Self Care Era, and Nostalgia — the latter earning a nomination for the Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award and sparking his first UK tour. In 2023, he headlined the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
Reuben Joseph
HND Acting and PerformanceAlumni Reuben has always had a love of music and drama, and studied at our Langside campus from 2015-2018, graduating with an HND in Acting and Performance. Since then he has carved out an impressive career in both television and theatre. From starring as Porter in the award-winning BBC drama, Vigil, to treading the boards in London’s Westend as Alexander Hamilton. Reuben is soon to play Macbeth with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Darren McGarvey
HND Practical JournalismDarren McGarvey is an award-winning author, social commenter, broadcaster and musician. He studied HND Practical Journalism at Glasgow Clyde College, graduating in 2015. By the time Darren had started at the College, he was already drawing acclaim as Scottish rapper, Loki and became one of Scottish Hip Hop's most influential artists.
Darren is probably best known for his activism and social commentary, and as the Orwell Prize winning author of ‘Poverty Safari: Understanding the Anger of Britain's Underclass’, which is a brutally honest insight into his experience growing up in Pollok. Darren is also well known for his extensive radio and television work and last year Darren won the award for Best On-Screen Personality at the RTS Scotland awards.
