Ready to take your dance teaching to the next level? Building on the foundations of the Level 7 course, Dance Skills for Teachers (SCQF Level 8) helps secondary PE teachers further develop their confidence and expertise in dance. You'll expand your practical and choreographic skills, strengthen your understanding of dance theory, and gain the knowledge needed to support learners working towards SQA qualifications such as the NPA in Dance, National 5 Dance and Higher Dance.
What will I learn?
Over the year long Dance Skills for Teachers (SCQF Level 8) course, you will complete SCQF Level 8 units, building a strong foundation in dance teaching and learning.
Subjects covered:
- Contemporary dance
- Jazz dance
- Choreographic skills
The course is taught in the award-winning Dance Studio Scotland, based in the fantastic purpose-built facility at Glasgow Clyde College's Anniesland Campus.
Entry requirements (minimum)
- You must hold GTCS registration if you wish to teach dance in schools
- Group interview / info session
- Previous dance experience is advantageous
- Excellent fitness levels
- Learning gained from other qualifications will be recognised
- HNC Dance or Dance Skills for Teachers (Level 7).
