Interested in millinery and want to take your skills to the next level? This Millinery Skills: Autumn Hats, Headpieces and Trims course is suitable for anyone who has attended previous millinery courses with us, or for those who already have an interest in millinery and are keen to learn new skills. As the only college offering millinery courses in Scotland, you'll benefit from our excellent millinery teaching facilities as well as our large and varied hat block library.

During the 12 week course you'll have time to complete at least one finished hat or headpiece and six trims.

What will I learn?

During the Millinery Skills: Autumn Hats, Headpieces and Trims course you'll:

  • Experiment with a range of millinery techniques through a series of demonstrations and workshops
  • Be encouraged to explore both traditional and non-traditional uses of Autumn millinery materials such as lace, sinamay straw, different types of feathers, tulle and crin
  • Explore creative ways to make sculpted sinamay bows, ombre dyeing, rolled edges, hat brim extensions, freeform shapes, tulle headpieces, adapting your blocks and passementerie headpieces.

The course is taught by milliner Shona Crozer, who has over 18 years' experience, and who has taught millinery at Glasgow Clyde College for over 8 years.
