Glasgow Clyde College Students get a glimpse behind the scenes at BBC
It’s not every day you get to step into the world of broadcasting but that’s exactly what our Second Year Media and Communication students did when they paid a visit to BBC Scotland, Pacific Quay. This trip wasn’t just a chance to look around but it was a unique opportunity to learn about the careers of industry professionals, explore the many pathways into the media and broadcast worlds and discover a range of exciting opportunities in the BBC.
The students had the chance to witness how the magic happens behind the cameras, from visiting live sets and seeing how it all comes together in the end in the final edit. They learned about camera operation, sound engineering, and the complicated logistics that make a live TV show. But most importantly, they learned that the show must always go on.
Cheryleen Barrowman, Operations Business Advisor for BBC Scotland commented “It was a pleasure to host the students at Pacific Quay this afternoon, they were so interested and had so many questions.”

For students, this experience was a massive spark of inspiration to turn their passion for media into a career in the industry. And who knows...maybe one day, they’ll be back at BBC Scotland, but this time with a camera, mic or script in hand, ready to make their own mark on the industry.
