Sue Irving appointed as Chair of the Board of Management

The Scottish Government has announced the appointment of Sue Irving as Chair of the Board of Management of Glasgow Clyde College. Sue replaces David Newall who came to Glasgow Clyde after retiring from the University of Glasgow.

Sue Irving, who previously served as Vice-Chair of Dumfries and Galloway College, has a wealth of experience to benefit Glasgow Clyde College. From 2011 to 2019 Sue served as Chief Executive Officer of the award winning Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service, and also served from 2007 to 2021 as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Board of Homeless Action Scotland.

Having recently left the role of CEO of the British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Sue who holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Robert Gordon University, is now dedicating two days per week to Glasgow Clyde College. In addition to Sue’s strong background in business including previously sitting on the Board of the Dumfries & Galloway Chamber of Commerce, Sue is also committed to community and is the current Chair and a Trustee of Centre Stage Community Theatre in Dumfries & Galloway.

Sue said, “It is a great privilege to be appointed as Chair of this dynamic College and I am looking forward to supporting the College to continue to excel. I am very impressed by the great outcomes Glasgow Clyde students achieve and the nurturing culture that is evident. I am looking forward to working with the Board and thank David Newall for his hard work and commitment.

Sue’s appointment will be for four years from July 2025 to July 2029.
