Developed by our very own intergalactic expert, lecturer George Howie, this course gives wannabe astronomers and space travellers a full overview of life beyond Earth.
You'll explore:
• Planet comparison and alien sightings
• The Earth's spheres and the science behind them
• Black holes: the facts, the theories, and the myths
• Dark matter and the cosmic secrets we're still uncovering
• The stars, the planets, and everything in between
Popular theories will be explored, myths will be busted, and big questions will be asked. Because that's what space is all about.
We're also set to become the first college to broadcast a course into space, and you're invited to be part of it!
Our brand-new Mysteries of Outer Space course is heading somewhere no college course has gone before. Using state-of-the-art software trusted by astronomers worldwide, we'll beam the course via radio waves at the speed of light, travelling 186,000 miles every second, out into the vast unknown.
And here's the really exciting part: there's no limit to how far it could travel. In theory, this course could fly through space for thousands of years. Who knows, one day, in a galaxy far, far away, it might just be enjoyed all over again.
Why does it matter?
Because the universe is full of questions we haven't answered yet. And the best way to start finding answers is to be curious — and brave enough to ask.
The Mysteries of Outer Space course has been created with a genuinely ambitious goal: to entice a reply from space. But whether or not we hear back from the cosmos, you'll come away with a deep, fascinating understanding of the universe we all share.
Ready to reach for the stars?
You don't need a rocket. Just curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to ask: what's out there? We'll take it from there.
