What will I learn?

This course at Glasgow Clyde College is ideal for gas engineers who have natural gas qualifications and would like to expand their to skills to include liquid petroleum gas (LPG) in permanent dwellings and residential park homes.

This course covers a range of modules including: 

  • Characteristics of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
  • Cylinder storage/location, safety requirements and sizing
  • LPG Supply Pressures 
  • Gas emergency actions and procedures
  • Installation of pipework and fittings for LPG
  • Permanent Dwellings
  • Residential Park Homes

As this course is categorised as part-time commercial training, it is not eligible for any fee waiver or funding via the College. The student is liable for the payment of fees, unless an external training grant or employer support is confirmed at time of booking. 

Entry requirements (minimum)

Initial Assessment / Changeover

Candidates must satisfy the entry requirements defined by the Assessment Scheme Rules e.g. a current Core Gas Safety CCN1

Re-assessment

Candidates must hold a current LPG certificate – if it has expired by more than 12 months candidates must take the initial assessment.

Jobs and further study

Candidates will gain the knowledge and skills to intall, service and repair LPG appliances. 

Making an application

For courses starting in August, you can make up to two applications.

Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
