This British Sign Language (BSL) - Level 2 course helps you build confidence and fluency so you can communicate with D/deaf people in everyday situations. You’ll learn advanced vocabulary, grammar and presentation skills, while exploring Deaf culture and history in the UK.
If you’ve completed Level 1, this is your next step towards Level 3 and exciting career opportunities in interpreting, education, healthcare or media.
What will I learn?
This is an intensive course designed to help you progress quickly and build confidence in using BSL. This course covers:
- Growing your BSL vocabulary and improving fluency
- Learning grammar, syntax and non-manual features
- Developing questioning and answering structures
- Preparing and delivering confident BSL presentations
- Understanding and interpreting complex signed content
- Exploring Deaf history and culture in the UK.
You’ll be assessed through presentations and conversations in BSL. Completing Level 2 opens doors to Level 3 and future roles such as Communication Support Worker, interpreter, carer or educator.
Important: At least one class will take place on a Saturday at our Langside campus.

Jobs and further study
After studying this you can go on to study BSL Level 3 (SCQF Level 6) which can further lead on to PDA for those wishing to become an interpreter with further study and training.
