Your organisation can receive up to £15,000 of free training
Glasgow Clyde College delivers a wide range of learning opportunities and training.
All courses are tailored to your organisation’s training needs with specialist tutors to guide and support your staff throughout.
Many courses can be delivered safely on campus, online via MS Teams or Zoom or in a blended format. Bespoke courses in most subject areas can be developed and delivered by our specialist training team.
We are proud to help businesses access the Flexible Development Workforce Fund (FWDF) which helps you to continue investing in your workforce through training and personal development. The Scottish Government has introduced the FWDF to provide employers with workforce development training for their existing workforce.
Employers paying the Apprenticeship Levy can apply to the FWDF for up to £15,000, with SMEs able to apply for up to £5,000.

Are you a SME?
For the first time, SMEs could be eligible for up to £5,000 of free training through the FWDF. The application can be made through the College and the fund can be used to completely, or partially cover the cost of training. More information about FWDF and SMEs
- SMEs can access up to £5,000 of training delivered by Glasgow Clyde College or The Open University in Scotland. SMEs are advised to make an application as soon as possible, as access to the fund will be on a first come first served basis.
- FWDF in 2021-22 is available to all SME employers in Scotland across the private, public and third sector. Employers must be based or operate within Scotland.
- For the purpose of the FWDF, an SME refers to any business with less than 250 employees.
- Employers are required to provide evidence of their business status as part of their FWDF application to colleges or The Open University in Scotland.
- Employers are required to submit evidence of their eligibility status as a SME business with their Phase 2 FWDF application. This should normally take the form of one of the following:
- A business bank account
- VAT registration
- PAYE registration
- Companies House info (latest accounts, etc.)
- Registration for self-assessment tax return (HMRC)
- An employer that is both a Levy-payer and an SME can access the FWDF from either Phase 1 or Phase 2, but not both. This should be confirmed through the application process.
- Each levy-paying employer can access up to a maximum of £15,000 in 2021/22 with SMEs eligible for up to £5,000.
- The FWDF can be used as part-contribution towards training of a higher cost.
- Employers may submit only one application to the fund within the application period.
- Employers, if eligible, may be able to allocate part of their FWDF allocation to up to two supply chain subcontractors they work with.
- The FWDF is in addition to apprenticeship support which all employers are eligible to access in Scotland.
- The FWDF will not support the provision of qualifications or training required by legislation.
- An application must be submitted via the College.
