Students to get kick out of fundraising event

Football In Goal

Students from Glasgow Clyde College are set to host a charity football tournament later this week – and they want YOU to take part!

As part of the college’s partnership with Tomorrow’s People, students have spent weeks organising a five-a-side football tournament in aid of The Mungo Foundation. Staff and students from across the college are being invited to take part or go along and support the teams at the event, which is set to take place between 12pm and 4pm at Police Scotland’s Lochinch Playing Fields in Pollok Park on Thursday 26 November. The winning team will have the opportunity to play against the Police Scotland football team, who have kindly offered to donate the use of their ground and supply a referee free of charge.

Karen Campbell, a member of the teaching staff at Employability and Continuing Education at Glasgow Clyde College, said: “The students decided they wanted to fundraise for The Mungo Foundation, a charitable organisation that helps the elderly and offers support to vulnerable young people in Glasgow. They have been involved in every aspect of organising this event and I have been blown away by their enthusiasm and dedication towards making it a success.

“Their involvement in this project has given them a great deal of experience that will be hugely beneficial to them in terms of applying for jobs. I hope that lots of people from the college come along to support them on the day.”

The event will also feature a raffle and tombola, giving those in attendance the chance to win a variety of different prizes including restaurant vouchers, clothing from Slaters and football stadium tours.
