BBC Media Operations enhance their teaching training skills
BBC Media Operations colleagues from across the UK recently came together at Media City, Salford, to undertake an intensive week-long Award in Education and Training, delivered by Greig Renwick, Lecturer in Lecturer in Education, Training and Assessment at Glasgow Clyde College.
The programme brought together staff from various BBC locations, including New Broadcasting House in London and BBC Birmingham, with a shared goal of developing their knowledge, confidence and practical skills in teaching, learning and assessment.
Throughout the week, participants explored the fundamental principles of effective teaching and assessment, engaging in practical activities, collaborative learning and professional reflection. The intensive programme provided valuable opportunities to share experiences, exchange ideas and develop innovative approaches to workplace training.
All participants demonstrated exceptional commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the week, contributing to a highly positive and rewarding learning experience.
Greig commented, “It was an excellent week at Media City, and I was incredibly impressed by the commitment, enthusiasm and positive attitude demonstrated by all the learners. Everyone gave 100% each day, creating a fantastic learning environment where colleagues could share experiences, develop new skills and learn from one another.
It was a real pleasure working with such a motivated and professional group. A huge well done to everyone involved!”
Importantly, the knowledge and skills gained will extend beyond the programme itself, enabling colleagues to bring fresh perspectives and enhanced training approaches back to their respective teams, helping to shape and strengthen learning and development across BBC Media Operations.
The programme highlights the value of collaborative professional development and the importance of investing in the skills of those responsible for supporting, training and developing others.
Special thanks go to Sam Turner, Lorna MacDonald and Elaine Donnelly for their invaluable support in making the programme such a successful, positive and professionally rewarding experience.
