Former fashion students set to take Paris by storm

ERIN E BROWN graduate collection

Two former fashion students are set to take Paris by storm, by exhibiting at a prestigious industry showcase.

Erin Brown and Amy Smith, who studied fashion at the Cardonald campus of what is now Glasgow Clyde College, were invited to exhibit at Texprint. Texprint aims to promote the UK's most talented textile design graduates worldwide, and following this will be exhibiting at Premiere Vision Paris this September.

Erin and Amy progressed from college to study at Heriot-Watt University and, having recently graduated, are delighted to have been asked to take part.

Erin says "I am very excited to be part of Texprint 2016. My graduate collection, 'Atmospheric Contrasts' incorporates bold, abstract menswear knit designs, and helped me to achieve a place at Texprint as one of the top 24 UK textile graduates of 2016. This incredible achievement has resulted in me exhibiting my work at Chelsea College of Art for Texprint London. The next stop is Premiere Vision Designs in Paris, where I will have my own stand. I have been working on my new collection for Spring/Summer 2018 since June and will be exhibiting this alongside a selection of designs from my other collections."

"College was a great platform to develop my creative style. I feel that it provided a stepping stone between school and university, where I was able to experiment with new techniques under the guidance of experienced and helpful tutors. I learned the importance of trusting my instincts in terms of design, and began to gain confidence in my work. This proved invaluable when applying for courses at art schools and universities as I was able to speak clearly about my starting points and explain the creative process that led to the final outcomes. The friends I met at college will be friends for life. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent studying there and will always look back on it fondly, knowing that it sparked my passion for what will hopefully be a life-long career in textile design!"

Premiere Vision Designs Paris takes place from 13-15 September 2016.
