Glasgow Clyde College announced as Commended college at Beacon Awards

Beacon Awards

We're delighted to share that Glasgow Clyde College, on behalf of the six Glasgow City Region Colleges, has been named as a Commended college in the AoC Beacon Awards this year, for the College Local Innovation Centres (CLIC) project. — a pioneering Innovate UK-funded initiative driving digital innovation across the Glasgow City Region. CLIC is a partnership between Glasgow Clyde College, Glasgow Kelvin College, City of Glasgow College, New College Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire College and West College Scotland.

Launched in 2024, CLIC is one of only nine college-led innovation programmes in the UK. In its first year alone, it supported 300+ businesses to adopt new digital capabilities and upskill their workforce — far exceeding its initial target. Thanks to this success, the programme was awarded a second year of funding from April 2025.

Each of the region’s six colleges leads a specialist innovation hub, from digital creativity and enablement through to advanced manufacturing and sustainable development — demonstrating the powerful role colleges can play in the innovation ecosystem.

We’re proud to be part of a project that’s making a real impact on productivity, digital adoption, and regional growth, and we look forward to the announcement of the finalists at the AoC Annual Conference on 18 November.
