This course will help you to prepare for the SQA Higher English exam.

Please note: This course will be taught on campus but will have options of online classes if unforeseen circumstances arise.

What will I learn?

  • How to develop a high level critique of journalist and literary texts
  • Use of language in short answer / essay writing
  • Individual presentation and group discussion skills
  • Close reading skills
  • Study of major texts: drama, poetry, short stories or novels.

  3. After the deposit payment, you will have a balance of £210 to pay. This balance will be paid in instalments of £105 over the 2 subsequent months following your deposit payment. (payment required by the 31st of the month)
  4. Follow the instructions within your joining instructions to make your balance payments.
  5. There are no funding options or fee waivers available for this course.
  6. If you choose to make only a deposit payment, you agree to make all outstanding balances as directed.

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • A or B pass at National 5, Intermediate 2, Standard Grade Credit Level (or equivalent), in English or
  • Have studied at HE level (HNC or university).

Please ensure you meet these entry requirements prior to making payment. If you pay but do not meet the entry requirements, the College reserve the right to refuse any refund.

You are required to provide your Scottish Candidate Number (SCN) upon booking so we can ensure you meet the entry requirements above.
