If you're new to cooking and would like to learn the basics, this home cooking for beginners is the course for you. Each week, you'll be introduced to different recipes and types of cuisine designed to help you gain more confidence within the kitchen at home, offering new life skills and understanding healthier options.

This cooking for beginners course will help to build your confidence by developing key skills within a relaxed and supportive environment. The information and knowledge you’ll receive will also allow you to make better-informed shopping decisions when working on a household budget.

What will I learn?

This uncertificated but fun and informative course will help you: 

  1. To gain confidence when using kitchen tools and equipment
  2. To produce wholesome dishes efficiently and cost-effectively
  3. To understand that home-cooked meals in a domestic setting need not be complicated

You will be introduced to the kitchen and its equipment, while you make a range of mouth-watering dishes including:

  • Red lentil, cannellini bean and bacon soup – Rosemary and sea salt flatbread
  • Macaroni cheese and garlic bread
  • Chicken curry with egg fried rice
  • Mince and potatoes with shortcrust pastry
  • Roasted vegetable quiche
  • Chicken and rice soup
  • Panko crumbed chicken escalope with spaghetti Napoli
  • Pizza Margherita from scratch

All food and equipment is provided.

We are unable to provide Halal meat; if you would like to use Halal meat then you are required to provide this yourself.
