Want to take your millinery skills to the next level? Millinery Skills: Drape and Shape is for students who have attended any other previous classes, have a little millinery experience and are keen to learn new skills.

You will have time to complete at least one finished hat and six trims.

What will I learn?

This Millinery Skills: Drape & Shape course will allow you to experiment with a range of millinery techniques through a series of demonstrations and workshops.

You will be encouraged to explore both traditional and non-traditional uses of millinery materials, such as buckram, blocking net, fosshape and sinamay.

You’ll also explore creative ways to drape fabrics, make structured bows, brim extensions, wirework, manipulate fabric and sinamay.

The course will be taught by Shona Crozer, a milliner with over 17 years’ experience. She has been the millinery lecturer at Glasgow Clyde College for over 7 years.

You should also bring a notebook and pen as well as a basic sewing kit comprising of measuring tape, scissors, tailors chalk or pencil, sewing needles and matching thread for your project. 

Entry requirements (minimum)

Completion of one our previous millinery courses as well as enthusiam and an interest in developing your hat-making skills.
