Looking for a comprehensive introduction to the world of esports? This new course combines industry insight with hands-on project experience. Aimed at beginners and aspiring professionals, the course explores the structures, roles, and creative processes behind competitive gaming, while also equipping students with transferable skills relevant to a wide range of digital and creative industries used throughout esports.

By the end of the course, you will have a strong foundational understanding of esports and will have produced a collaborative online event gaining real-world experience in planning, production, branding, and teamwork.

What will I learn?

This Introduction to Esports and Competitive Gaming course will allow you to develop your interest in esports, gaming, digital media or event planning. 

You'll cover:

  • An introduction to esports
  • Networking within esports
  • Branding and marketing in esports
  • Visual design and content creation in esports
  • Production and broadcasting in esports
  • The industry in Scotland/UK of esports
  • Planning an online event in esports
  • Running an online esports event.

This class will be delivered in our specialist gaming lab and all learning resources will be delivered online. Some computing knowledge may be requried but is not necessary. 

Entry requirements (minimum)

This course has no formal entry requirements but a keen interest in esports is essential.
