The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) provides the skills and knowledge required to work effectively as a teacher of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
CELTA is awarded and administered by the University of Cambridge (ESOL Examinations) is one of the most widely recognised qualifications for people who wish to become professional teachers of English language.
The course is aimed at those either with no experience of teaching English as a foreign language or more experienced teachers who are looking to gain a teaching qualification. It develops an awareness of both the English language itself and language teaching methodology. It also has a strong emphasis on practical teaching skills, through daily teaching practice with language students.
Monday to Friday (9:00am-5:00pm) for 4 weeks

Glasgow Clyde College also offers Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), which runs on Wednesday (6:00pm-9:00pm) for 36 weeks. Trinity Certificate and CELTA both provide recognised entry level qualifications to ESOL teaching opportunities.
The course is eligible for Individual Learning Account funding.
Applicants must have a high level of competence in both spoken and written English. You should also ideally be graduates, or have qualifications to enable entry to Higher Education
After successfully completing this course and teaching for two years full-time teaching (or the part-time equivalent), you can take the Trinity Diploma in TESOL or the Cambridge DELTA qualifications.
