SVQ Level 2 Engineering Technology and Design

This course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career within the Engineering sector. The award allows you to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in a range of modern engineering techniques while undertaking the SVQ Level 2 Qualification in Performing Engineering Operations. This qualification is recognised by employers with regard to progressing onto an Engineering Modern Apprenticeship; previous students have successfully progressed into Modern Apprenticeships in the defence, manufacturing, engineering maintenance, shipbuilding and aerospace sectors

Course content

The Programme offers the opportunity for you to undertake a wide range of Engineering Skills within a Practical Engineering Environment. You will also enhance your knowledge on Health & Safety within Engineering including how to work efficiently and effectively within Engineering Environment with a focus on Employability Skills.

As part of the SVQ Level 2 Qualification in Performing Engineering Operations there will be the opportunity for you to gain knowledge and experience in a number of Engineering areas including:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical Maintenance and Assembly
  • Computer Numerical Control Machining
  • Computer Aided Design and Draughting.

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • Four National 4s or equivalent standard grades, including maths and a science or a technical subject
  • Applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications but who have relevant life and/or work experience

Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
