This millinery course at Glasgow Clyde College provides an introduction to traditional and innovative techniques. You will learn the skills and knowledge required to produce a portfolio of millinery samples and a finished item.

This course is ideal for beginners with little or no experience, as well as established designers looking to offer a wider service to their clients.

Course content

You will learn how to:

  • work with a range of millinery fabrics 
  • apply hand embroidery and beading 
  • make flowers and trims 
  • use combs and attachments 
  • design and make fascinators. 

You will create a capsule collection which will be exhibited within the College and at external exhibitions and fashion shows.

This course has enabled previous students to start their own business.

Course tutor

This course is taught by Carol Crozier. Carol is a full-time lecturer at the College in subjects from pattern cutting, sewing, bridal and evening wear, history of costume and millinery. Carol studied millinery at the London College of Fashion.

If you enjoy this course, you could consider expanding your knowledge with other part-time courses, such as Textile Techniques. It's also possible to progress onto full-time NC/HND Fashion Technology/Design programmes (subject to a selection process).
