YMCA Exercise to Music (CYQ Certificate)

The (Central YMCA Qualification) CYQ Certificate: Exercise to Music course available at Glasgow Clyde College covers everything you need to become a fully competent and knowledgeable Exercise-to-Music fitness instructor.

This entry-level fitness course covers the mix of theory and practical sessions where you will learn everything you need to become a fully competent and knowledgeable Exercise to Music fitness instructor.

CYQ is the new name for all YMCA courses and YMCA Exercise to Music is one of the most well-known and well respected courses. Further information on CYQ courses is available here.

The Exercise to Music course runs in various venues across Glasgow and Paisley. 


Entry requirements (minimum)

You must have taken part in exercise to music classes, however no teaching experience is necessary.

Progression routes

Once you have passed your assessment, you are a fully qualified Level 2 Fitness Instructor and can gain employment in the fitness industry teaching fitness classes in the community as a self employed Exercise to Music Teacher or working for a health club delivering classes.

Alternatively your Level 2 qualification will allow you to go on and access a range of specialist teaching areas such BTS, Zumba, or a variety of specialist modules such as Core Stability and Nutrition.
You can even specialise in ante and post natal or teaching older adults - the sky is the limit!

Attendance dates

Saturday/Sunday - 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th November, 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 10th December 2017 - Assessment Dates - 6th & 7th January 2018


This course will be delivered at Pro-Life Fitness Centre, Paisley.


This course is eligible for SDS Individual Learning Account (ILA) funding. If you're using an ILA to fund/part fund this course, please call 0141 272 0664 to enrol. Please note we're unable to accept ILA funds as a deposit.
