AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 3

This course is aimed at those who want to develop their understanding and knowledge of bookkeeping. It provides a natural progression route for those who have completed AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping and/or AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping, or have previous experience in bookkeeping. The Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping can lead to employment as a:

  • Professional Bookkeeper
  • Senior Bookkeeper
  • Accounts Manager
  • Ledger Manager.

Course content

This qualification consists of three units each with an assessment. It provides a more in-depth understanding of double-entry bookkeeping as well as additional units in spreadsheets software and professional ethics. The three units covered are:

  • Advanced bookkeeping
  • Final accounts preparation
  • Indirect tax.

Entry requirements (minimum)

AAT does not have any entry requirements for this course. For the best chance of success, however, it is recommended that you begin your studies with a good standard of English and Maths.

Progression routes

Students completing the AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping may want to go on and complete the full AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting. If you want to continue studying and choose to complete one of the full AAT Accounting Qualifications, your short qualification achievement/s may be transferred to the larger qualifications.

If you successfully complete this qualification, you can apply for AAT associate bookkeeping membership (AATQB)
