NQ Contemporary Art Portfolio - Level 6

This course is designed to develop students with an interest in Contemporary Art Practice (fine art). It will introduce you to practicing Artists and ideas that are relevant today as well as helping you to build up a portfolio of art work suitable for applying to further study within this area of art practice. The course concentrates on key areas which are relevant to current art practice such as drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. As part of the program you will be taken to galleries as well as taking part in workshops delivered by practicing artists. Throughout the program you will gain a good foundation in fine art practices which will help you to identify your strengths and ultimately help you to progress to a higher level program. This course may be suitable for those thinking of applying directly to art school or applying for HND courses.

Entry requirements (minimum)

• 4 National 5 Qualifications two of which must be in Art and English*
• A personal statement is key to supporting a successful application.
• Portfolio of artwork
• Mature students will be considered based on their portfolio of work and relevant experience

*If you are planning to use this course to apply direct to art school you should have a minimum of 3 good passes at higher level.

  • Art school entry may be possible for students with the relevant academic qualifications
