NPA Construction

This course will consist of an introductory element to safety, practical woodwork, fabrication and wet trade skills. This will be followed by a number of SQA units which will equate to the NPA Group Award.  

Course content

  • Intro to Site Carpentry and Bench Joinery
  • Bench joinery skills
  • Half brick walling
  • Wall and floor tiling
  • Preparing and Painting Surfaces is included at Anniesland Campus
  • Construction Safety Practice

  • CV assistance
  • Work experience opportunities are available to suitable candidates.

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • Standard Grade at General level or National 4 in Craft and Design or a relevant practical subject such as Skills for Work, Woodwork or Practical Craft Skills,
  • Standard Grades at General Level or National 4 in Maths and English are desirable. 
  • Successful performance in entry test.
Selection process information

Progression routes

  • Craft apprenticeship in a construction trade 
  • Satisfactory achievement and a suitable internal reference of the Group Award will allow candidates to progress onto the NC Built Environment or Civil Engineering course.
