NC Music

A music course designed to bridge the gap between secondary school music qualifications (e.g. Advanced Higher Music) and HND/Degree courses. Its breadth and depth affords students the opportunity to establish a strong foundation for progress in advanced musical training, nurturing a range of essential musical skills significantly beyond those generally acquired in school programmes. The course is suitable for those pursuing either contemporary or classical training.

  • Music appreciation and aural skills

  • MIDI sequencing
  • Sound production 

Assessment is continuous, with a mix of practical and theoretical assessments. 

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • SQA Higher Music and English preferred but not essential
  • Entry is by audition (all applicants will be auditioned until the course is full)
  • Applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications but who have relevant life and/or work experience.

Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
