Introduction to Fashion and Textiles (January 2018)

This course is designed for adults returning to study or those who wish to improve their qualifications. It offers students the opportunity to further their studies and gain the qualifications required for entry to courses within Fashion and Textiles.

Students will be able to use industrial and domestic machines, gain an understanding of both pattern cutting and garment construction as well as developing their design skills and textile knowledge of print and embroidered fabrics. Teaching takes place within our highly-equipped sewing rooms, design studios and print studio.

Entry requirements (minimum)

A detailed personal statement and one reference (preferably academic). The personal statement should explain why you wish to pursue a programme of study relating to Fashion and Textiles, and detail any previous experience in this field and demonstrate an interest in the subject matter.

Progression routes

  • Students who show an aptitude for the subject area will be encouraged to apply for a place on NC Fashion to develop skills to a higher level. Depending on ability, students may be considered for:
  • HND Fashion Design and Manufacture
  • HND Fashion Technology
  • HND Fashion Textiles
