HND Fashion Textiles

HND Textiles is a highly creative design-led course that embraces all aspects of surface decoration, fabric construction, drawing and design development related to both fashion, interior and accessory design. All course work is project-based and students are encouraged to experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques to develop the skills necessary to pursue a career within the fashion and textile industry. The course is delivered by a dedicated team of professionals with a breadth of experience within the creative industries. We have well established links with high profile companies and organisations and recent live sponsored projects include designing lace for MYB lace manufacturers, designing and producing a collection of leather samples and a leather bag for the Incorporation of Cordiners, designing a collection of interior printed textile samples for Voyage Decoration and designing a collection of hand embroidered cashmere scarves for Begg and Co of Ayr.

We have strong relationships with Higher Education institutes throughout Scotland and across the United Kingdom, with many of our students successfully gaining direct entry places into university. Students also gain a wide variety of skills that enable them to progress directly into design and manufacturing employment within the creative industries.

Recent graduates of the course include Kyle Spires (Calvin Klein), Gavin Donnachie (Peter Pilotto), Charlotte Heylar (Stella McCartney), Diane Houston (Gilda and Pearl), Corinne McHenery (Dazed Dorothy), Teri Higgins and Jennifer Leith (Top Shop), Aysha Wood (Ralph and Russo), Paula Hayton (Alexa Chung), Chelsea Coleman (Begg of Scotland), Karen Blackwood (Voyage Decoration) and Lauren Clark ( Dune, London)

Progression from HNC to HND is not guaranteed and is dependent on suitable progression through course work as well as satisfactory attendance, timekeeping and commitment.
