English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for Everyday Life National 4

The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses are for students who wish to improve their English language skills. They prepare you for further study, employment and will increase your confidence in communicating at home, with your family, in social situations, and at work. We also include work on citizenship. 

Course content

You will improve:

  • Your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills
  • Grammar and vocabulary
  • Pronunciation.

You will gain knowledge about:

  • English for work and living in the UK
  • Citizenship and UK culture. 

You will have:

  • Regular homework
  • Oral and written progress tests in class
  • Formal assessments. 

You will work towards an SQA ESOL qualification at your level.

This course uses a customised Distance Learning pack which will be issued to you for use at home

The tutor will teach key learning elements from the pack every week and you can also choose how much time to spend in class.

Using both the course tutor and the Distance learning pack you will be prepared for the SQA level 4 unit-ESOL for Everyday Life.

Your tutor will negotiate assessment dates with which will take up the final 4 weeks of the course.
