What information do I need to provide if I’m graduating?

Once you’ve arrived at our Virtual Graduation and Awards sign-up page, select the ‘Graduating student’ option and you will see a few additional fields to fill out.

The first field ‘Your Name’ is the name you’re registered at GCC with.

Your ‘Student reference number’ is the number you had while attending GCC.

There is also an option to upload a photo of yourself too.

Please note: that if you wish to upload a photo, this must be completed by midnight on Monday 26 October or your photo will not appear.

You can still register to attend the event after this date.

Do I need to upload a photo if I’m graduating?

It is not mandatory to upload a photo but of course we recommend it.

This photo will be displayed alongside your name as we read it out during the ceremony.

Please note: that if you wish to upload a photo, this must be completed by midnight on Monday 26 October or your photo will not appear.

You can still register to attend the event after this date.

I’ve signed up, now what?

You will receive a confirmation email once you’ve signed up. The email will come from the event platform we’re using called ‘Forumm’.

A few days before the event is due to take place you will also receive a reminder email that will contain a unique link that you can use to access your ceremony on Graduation day. This will take you to our live streaming platform page.

Do I need to download anything to watch the Virtual Graduation and Awards 2020?

The live event will take place fully online using your web browser.

We recommend using Google Chrome as a browser.

What if I want to watch a ceremony that isn’t my own?

All the ceremonies will be held using the same streaming platform throughout the day, so if you want to watch other ceremonies you’re more than welcome to.

What if I want to watch with my friends?

We’ll be providing optional video ‘break-out’ rooms that are really simple to use.

If you want to watch with a group of people these breakout rooms open a Zoom video chat so you’re able to chat with your friends as you watch the graduation ceremony.

The links to these rooms will be provided within our streaming platform.

Will people be able to see and hear me?

Your privacy is important to us, no one will be able to see or hear you during the online event unless you chose to join one of the 'break-out' rooms.

There is a chat function that you can type comments throughout the ceremonies if you want.

What will happen during the online event?

Our Virtual Graduation and Awards will follow the format of our usual ceremony.

There will be an address from the Principal, guest speakers and the reading of the names of the graduands.

There will also be a couple of additional surprises on the day and you will be able to get involved in the celebrations by using the chat function.

Will I be able to attend a traditional graduation ceremony?

Please be assured that by attending our Virtual Graduation and Awards, it does not mean that you will miss out on a formal graduation ceremony.

It is important to us that you can have the opportunity to celebrate in the traditional manner with your family and friends.

As part of the registration process, you will be asked if you wish to attend next year’s ceremony.
