EIS-FELA National Strike Action: 15 and 16 May 2019

The Further Education Lecturers' Association of the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS-FELA) have announced that they will be taking strike action at all colleges throughout Scotland on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 May.  These national days of strike action have arisen as a consequence of a break-down in negotiations between EIS-FELA and the Colleges Scotland Employers’ Association over a cost of living pay increase.

EIS-FELA members are under no obligation to inform us of their intention to strike or not, therefore we are unable to guarantee that students who attend on those days will have a lecturer to cover their classes.  On that basis, we have no option but to cancel all day classes scheduled for Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 May 2019.

The College sincerely regrets and fully understands the adverse impact the national strike action may have on our students.  The current situation is extremely undesirable; however, please be assured that the College is committed to providing every student with a positive and purposeful learning experience and will continue to do so.

Please note that SQA Higher examinations due to take place on 15 May are not affected by the strike action.
