An Introduction to the World of Computing is designed to give you an insight into this exciting and dynamic subject area and the careers you can successfully follow. Studying the subjects of Cyber Security, Coding, Mobile App development, WEB development, Hardware, Software and Networking, you will be given a broad understanding of each topic with the view to specialising as you progress to the next level of study.
This course requires no previous qualifications or experience and you will undertake the NPA in Digital Literacy and IT for Employability from the British Computer Society.

Please note: This course is offered at three campus, if for some reason the course doesn't take place at your preferred campus and we are offereing you a place, we will ask you to attend one of the other campuses.

The School of Computing work with a number of employers including BT and the NHS. In addition we have excellent articulation agreements with various universities.
Jobs and further study
On successful completion of this course you can apply for the next level of study in Computing starting in August, NC Computing and Information Technology.
Entry requirements (minimum)
Entry will be by interview and a suitable reference.
Making an application
For courses starting in August, you can make up to two applications.
Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
When you apply:
You will receive an automated email confirming that we have received your application and will be in contact as per the following stages:
- Selection will be by interview and reference.
- Interviews will take place within 4 weeks of applying.
You will be informed of the outcome of the selection process by email within 10 working days of the interview.
Once an offer is received you must reply within 10 working days or risk losing your place.
Once you have accepted your offer, you will be sent further information e.g. Student Funding, Joining Instructions, materials, Induction date
