The City & Guilds 2391-52 Combined Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing course is a part-time commercial course aimed at qualified electricians or individuals with direct electrical experience and a current Wiring Regulations certificate (18th Edition).

What will I learn?

Tuesday 23rd April 2024 @ 9:00am one daytime session per week for approximately 7 sessions plus assessments. 

Tuesday 23rd April 2024 @ 6:00pm one evening session per week for approximately 14 sessions plus assessments.

The City & Guilds 2391-52 Combined Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing qualification is intended for practising electricians who want to expand their skills and knowledge and continue their professional development. It provides specialist knowledge and skills, including appropriate legislation, inspection and testing techniques, completing and issuing certificates or reports and understanding of results and measurements. 

Delegates enrolling on this course will achieve a greater understanding of initial verification and periodic inspection & testing in both new and older properties in the UK; domestic, commercial and industrial aspects are covered. 

The course is delivered in line with BS7671:2022 (amendment 2). 

The assessment consists of 3 parts:

  • An online multiple-choice test
  • A written exam 
  • A practical assessment

The assessment details and arrangements are confirmed during the course and may require additional attendance out with the course start and end date. 

A basic level of IT skills is beneficial to candidates due to student account set-up and the online assessment which is undertaken on a PC or laptop (provided by the College). If you require support with IT please let us know at the time of booking.

As this course is categorised as part-time commercial training, it is not eligible for any fee waiver or funding via the College. The student is liable for the payment of fees, unless an external training grant or employer support is confirmed at time of booking. 

Entry requirements (minimum)

Entrants must be 18+ years of age and able to demonstrate the following:

  • Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations BS7671 certificate
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical principles
  • Experience in electrical installation work 

These entry requirements are stipulated by the College as per recommendations from City & Guilds to ensure candidates have the potential and opportunity to successfully complete the course.

The course is delivered in line with BS7671:2022 (amendment 2). Therefore, as a Centre we specify candidates hold the 18th Edition certification to demonstrate a current understanding of BS7671 Wiring Regs.

Candidates are recommended to have access to the following: 

  • Laptop or Smart device
  • Internet / WiFi
  •  Microsoft Teams 

This will enable access to e-learning materials and a communication channel with the trainer and training group between sessions. Office 365 Service is included in your student account which you will have access to for the duration of the course.

For courses starting in August, you can make up to two applications.

Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
