Pathway Apprenticeship: IT Digital Hardware
Pathway Apprenticeships are new training programmes for school leavers aged 16 to 18 years of age. They have been developed by Skills Development Scotland and partners and are suitable for those who have recently left school, are unemployed and not receiving benefits. This Pathway Apprenticeship in IT Digital Hardware could help prepare you for the world of work.
What will I learn?
NPA in Professional Computer Fundamentals which includes:
- Security fundamentals
- Network fundamentals
- Server administration fundamentals
You will also undertake the following units from the Diploma in IT Telecommunications Professionals:
- Health and safety in IT and telecoms
- IT and telecom system operation 2
- Testing IT and telecom systems 2
- Working with IT and telecoms hardware and equipment 1
- Foundation Apprenticeship certification unit
- Word-based challenge.
You will also learn Employability Skills which will build confidence, communication skills, CV writing and interview skills.
You will attend three full days plus one day work placement/work-based challenge project.
During your training you will be paid a £100 weekly training allowance.
Your course will be delivered by lecturing staff qualified to degree level who have a variety of experience from working in industry in their specialised field.
Jobs and further study
The Pathway Apprenticeship will provide you with the qualifications and work experience that employers are looking for and successful completion can lead to employment, further study or to a Modern Apprenticeship.
Entry requirements (minimum)
You should have previously studied at SCQF level 5.
Selection will be based on your personal statement, interview, practical exercise and a suitable reference.
Making an application
For courses starting in August, you can make up to two applications.
Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
