This Entry to HND Accounting course is designed to provide you with a good grounding in the accounting skills required for business. It will also introduce you to a number of non-accounting subjects that are likely to be part of any HN Accounting programme e.g. Spreadsheets, Law and Economics. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to move on to a Higher National course in Accounting or potentially to jobs at an introductory level in an accounting or business organisation.

Please note that due to the impact of COVID-19, this course will be delivered via a blended learning approach - which may include limited face-to-face learning on campus combined with remote learning off-campus and digital learning approaches. If and when delivery is taking place on-campus, there will be reduced student numbers and physical distancing measures in place. If you require any support in learning digitally please inform the Course Leader or Student Support team.

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • Completion of Introduction to Accounting (short-course) with passes in all units and positive feedback from Course Team, or;
  • Four or more relevant courses at National 5 level or above (or equivalent including English and a numeracy based subject) at C or above, or;
  • National 5 in Accounting (C grade or above)
  • Relevant work experience will be considered.

Entry Requirements Equivalency

Jobs and further study

This course may enable progress to further study at HN Accounting level or to roles such as finance assistant or payroll clerk.
