Student Dana benefits from Travel and Tourism connections

Dana Malone

Dana Malone, who studied on the Travel and Tourism Employability course, is an example of the kinds of industry connections that our students benefit from through coming to Glasgow Clyde College. Dana has started summer work with Disabled Access Holidays, after impressing bosses during her two-week placement there as part of her course.

The Travel and Tourism employability course teaches skills that are based around enterprise activities and included planning, organisational, investigative and interpersonal skills geared towards customer care and sales in the travel and tourism industry. Students have the opportunity to complete work placements in industry to put the skills they have learned into practice in a real working environment.

Dana’s work placement was with Disabled Access Holidays, who provide tailored holidays and advice for those who have medical conditions or disabilities, and she has spent time with various advisors learning about different aspects of their work. Dana will be working with some of the other advisors to further develop her skills and knowledge in order to be able to cover holiday periods for the staff and give her more experience.

Excellent experience for Dana, as she is due to return to Glasgow Clyde to start HND Travel and Tourism next term.
