Hair-raising fundraising

Beatson Fundraising

Winter Leavers' student Demilee Ingram bravely had her long flowing locks shaved off at an event last week, to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity. She went from having long flowing locks to a number two cut!

The event was organised by students on the Winter Leavers' Programme at Cardonald campus. The students are on work experience with our partner organisation Young Enterprise Scotland at its training salon in Barrhead.

Seven inches of Demi's hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to girls and boys who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Demi planned this act for some time and has worked hard to raise money for Cancer Research UK and the Beatson Cancer Charity, in recognition of the support received by her relatives who were diagnosed with cancer.

Well done Demi and the team - £1,000 raised so far with funds still rolling in!

Glasgow Clyde College's Winter Leavers' Programme is designed specifically for school winter leavers who would benefit from support to explore career options, improve confidence and develop employability skills.

Through practical projects and classroom-based teaching, students work towards qualifications within a range of vocational areas such as creative arts, enterprise, child/healthcare, construction and hospitality.

Applications for the August 2016 Winter Leavers' intake will open in late January 2016.
