Skills for Life and Work

This 2 year course is for young people who have additional support needs, who wish to improve their independence and employability skills.

The first year of the course focuses mainly on increasing independence and maturity, building self-confidence and essential skills: ICT, team building, numeracy and communication skills.

In year 2 the focus changes to building employability skills. This will include students taking part in work placements both in college and in the community. This is an essential element of the course and students must be willing to participate.

Students will learn through a variety of practical and active learning experiences.

All students have a Personal Learning and Support Plan to enable each student’s learning to be tailored to suit their needs and goals. All students receive personalised guidance and support at regular meetings.

Students can apply for financial help in the form of a bursary.

Attendance:18 hours per week.
