Moving onto Independence

This course is aimed at young people who require additional support for learning and wish to develop their skills and knowledge to progress to an appropriate future option.

Students will be offered the opportunity to experience supported work placements within the college, if appropriate and will learn about various routes to employment. A range of progression routes are investigated including supported employment, activities supported by external organisations and other additional support for learning college courses

The course also concentrates on personal and social development, improving practical skills and further improving essential, citizenship and independence skills.

It is an appropriate progression route for those who have completed the ‘Learning for Independence’ or a similar course.

Subjects will be certified by the SQA at SCQF National 2 level.

Students can apply for financial help in the form of a bursary or EMA.

All students have a Personal Learning and Support Plan to enable each student’s learning to be tailored to suit their needs and goals. All students receive personalised guidance and support at regular meetings.

Attendance: 18 hours a week
