NQ Allied Care

This course is designed for those seeking a career in the care sector, but who have not yet made a decision as to the particular area they would like to study. This course combines Units from Working with Communities, Counselling and Social Care and will allow the applicant to look at all three areas before making a decision as to the route they would like to follow. This course will meet the academic requirements for progression to the HNC in these areas, but applicants would need to make their own arrangements to ensure they meet the entry requirements regarding work experience.

  • Care: Social Influences 
  • Developing Personal Effectiveness

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • applicants should have four Credit Standard Grades to include English or relevant NC qualifications or National 5
  • applicants meeting these criteria may be invited to attend an interview
  • applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications but who have relevant work experience

Progression routes

  • Successful students may apply to HNC Working with Communities, HNC Counselling, HNC Social Care, or HNC Social Sciences
  • For possible progression to HNC Social Care/Communities/Counselling students would require to organise their own voluntary work placement over and above the course commitments that meets the work experience requirements for the specific HNC.
