NC Stringed Musical Instrument Making - Level 5 (January 2018)

Scotland School of Luthiers

Scotland’s established institution of musical instrument making and repair, since 1989.

This unique course, is the only one of its type available in Scotland and is designed to equip you with a wide range of specialist skills in the field of Stringed Instrument Construction and Repair. The level 5 course is a full time access course for level 6, it begins in January and runs for 20 weeks. If you posses prior skills you can opt for level 6, but would otherwise be better suited to level 5.

The course content is delivered by a team of practicing makers and repairers in a small friendly well equipped workshop of about thirty students.

The programme will begin with a four week introduction to general woodworking and tool sharpening to help ensure that you have the necessary skills to begin the making project. Tutor contact time is two and a half days per week but additional workshop time is available.

You are welcome to apply from throughout the European Union and interviews are available via Skype.

If you are successful you will need to attend an induction day during November prior to the start of the course.
