NC Spa and Holistic Therapies - Level 6

This complementary therapies course at Glasgow Clyde College provides a broad understanding and knowledge across of range of holistic therapies such as massage and healthy eating and their benefits. It's suitable for a wide range of candidates from school leavers to adult learners who are interested in a learning about complementary therapies.

Course content

  • Body massage
  • Wellness Therapies: First Aid in the Salon
  • Wellness Therapies: Body Structures and Benefits of Treatments
  • Wellness Therapies: Managing Stress
  • Healthy Eating and Wellbeing
  • Scalp, Neck and Shoulder Massage
  • Facial massage
  • Investigation 
  • Ear candle and facial sinus drainage (College certificate)
  • Thai foot massage (College certificate)
  • On-site Acupressure massage (College certificate)

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • Three Standard grades at level 3 or above including English (one science subject would be an advantage)
  • Three Intermediate 2 at grade C or above including English (one science subject would be an advantage
  • Three National 5 at grade C or above including English (one science subject would be an advantage)
  • NPA Cosmetology (Beauty)
  • NC Beauty Care and Makeup (Level 5)
  • SVQ level 1 beauty with National 5 English
  • Applicants must be 16 years of age at the start of the course
  • Those with relevant life experience will also be considered if they do not have the relevant entry qualifications
  • Candidates need to provide one reference and will be required to do a written test and interview.
  • All candidates need to have a mature attitude and be willing to practice on a range of clients.
