NC Applied Sciences - Level 5

This National Group Award course provides the knowledge and skills needed to enable students to progress to our NC Applied Sciences (level 6) course. Students will also experience stimulating practical activities related to work, as well as gaining laboratory skills.

Assessment will be continuous with a mixture of practical and theoretical assessments. There is no final examination. 

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • SCQF level 4 (Intermediate 1 A/B or Standard Grade 3/4 or National 4, with added-value unit) in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English or equivalent qualifications
  • Applications from those with no previous qualifications in the Sciences may also be considered if they have appropriate qualifications in Mathematics and English.

  • NC Applied Sciences (level 6)
  • Successful completion of the NC Applied Sciences (level 5) course can allow students to apply for employment in a range of laboratory-based and bioscience-related occupations.
