HND Interactive Media

This course is designed to develop experience and skills in digital and interactive media, with an emphasis on web design and development including scripting, e-learning, animation, publishing and audio and video. Students will aim to produce a portfolio of work to represent their design and development skills.

  • Digital Imaging: Bitmap and Vector 
  • User Interface Design 
  • Web Development Essential Content with JavaScript 
  • Client Side Scripting for Web Applications using CS5 
  • Interactive Media: Planning 
  • Interactive Media: Authoring (Programming/Scripting)
  • Software Development
  • Working within a Project Team with Web Development 
  • Interactive Media: Graded Unit 1 

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • One Higher in a relevant subject and 1 Intermediate 2 or National 5 passeslevel, or NC Digital Media or NC Computing 
  • Applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications but who have relevant life and/or work experience
  • Some applicants will be invited to attend an interview, those who meet entry criteria and provide a suitable reference may not require an interview
  • A suitable employer or academic reference.

If you meet the entry criteria and have a suitable reference, you will be accepted on the course without interview. All other applicants will be interviewed.

Progression routes

Successful students may progress to the second or third year of a variety of degree programmes within the University of the West of Scotland and Glasgow Caledonian University.
