HND Computing Technical Support with Cyber Security

All HND Computing students complete a common first year (HNC Computing) studying a wide range of subjects and choose in the second year from HNDs in Computer Science, Software Development, Networking or Technical Support. In Technical Support we are offering some specialist Security options to help prepare students for employment in that area.

Course content

  • Security fundamentals
  • Computer forensics
  • Ethical hacking
  • Network server operating systems
  • Client operating systems

In addition to this, you will also be offered the opportunity to study towards a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft MCITP and CompTIA A+ qualifications. These qualifications are highly desired by employers. You are also given the opportunity to enter World Skills competitions. The Cardonald Campus hosts the Scottish heats for this Competition. You can also access the latest Microsoft labs equipped with specialist equipment.

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • One Higher and one Intermediate 2, or equivalent National 5, from Computing, Maths, English, IT or Science subjects 
  • NC in Computing or IT
  • Applications are also invited from those without formal entry qualifications but with relevant work experience
  • For those holding a relevant HNC it may be possible to access Year two of the HND. Please contact the Faculty directly
  • A suitable employer or academic reference.

Those who meet the entry criteria and have a suitable reference will be accepted on the course without interview. All other applicants will be interviewed.

For courses starting in August 2017, you can make up to two applications.

Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
